New Mobile Vet Service Opens in Southwest Florida

Punta Gorda, FL, April 29, 2013 –(PR.com)– Dr. Andrea Bivens, the Punta Gorda veterinarian voted best vet in Charlotte County in 2010, 2011 and 2012 has sold her bricks and mortar practice and opened a mobile veterinary practice called Medi-Waggin’ that will operate throughout Southwest Florida.
The University of Florida graduate and veterinarian for the past 19 years sold Animal Medical Clinic of Punta Gorda because, she says, it was time to get back to good old-fashioned vet work.
“The best part about being a vet is helping animals, and with a large successful practice you spend too much time on paperwork and running a business and not enough being a veterinarian. I was eager to get back to being a vet,” said Dr. Bivens.
Dr. Bivens’ mobile practice called Medi-Waggin’ is a fully equipped mobile vet clinic. Her mobile clinic is able to perform most of the services of a stand alone clinic; including blood work, xrays, dentistry, as well as routine annual wellness exams and vaccinations; but can do that at her patient’s front door.
Her customers appreciate the convenience of a mobile clinic. “Are you kidding me? It’s awesome,” said Walter Mokos, a Medi-Waggin’ client. “Dr. Bivens drives the Medi-Waggin’ right to our door. We don’t have to hassle with getting the dog or cats into crates and have them panic when they get to a vet’s office. And she was voted the best vet in Charlotte County for 3 years, that should tell you something about the quality of her work and dedication to the animals.”
Her practice areas include Englewood, Venice, Arcadia, North Ft. Myers and Boca Grande. However, because of the sale of her previous clinic, she is unable to see her previous patients or practice in the immediate Punta Gorda or Port Charlotte areas. “That’s OK” Bivens says, “I can be anywhere in 30 minutes.”
“Since I live in Charlotte County and I drive the Medi-Waggin’ into and out of the county to get to work, people see it regularly. Because the van has such high profile graphics on it, Charlotte County pet owners regularly ask if I can come to see their pets,” explains Bivens. “So I direct them to local veterinarians with day practices in the county. If pet owners want me to see their pets, I can see them on Fridays at my former practice. People who live north or south of Punta Gorda or Port Charlotte should call and see if they are in our practice area.”
As part to her new practice, Bivens’ Medi-Waggin’ is set up every Monday morning at the Aqua Dog Sports facility at the Shell Factory at 2787 N Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers and is currently working on additional partnerships with groomers, pet stores and other pet related business that would like to partner with her mobile vet service at their place of business.
Bivens seems happy with her decision, “It’s just what I expected, a lot more hands on vet work and an lot less paperwork. So far, so good,” says Bivens. You can contact Dr. Bivens at 239-850-VETS (8387) or on the web at MediWaggin.com.
